Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority (OJK) said the number of capital market investors had passed 32 million in its latest data, after reaching 31.14 million in August 2026.

Edi Broto Suwarno, head of OJK’s department overseeing securities institutions, presented the figures on 14 October at Ring The Bell For Financial Literacy 2026, held at the Indonesia Stock Exchange building. He said individuals aged 30 or younger made up about 55.25 per cent of investors in August. Including those aged 31 to 40 brought the share to more than 80.64 per cent.

Edi said the figures reflected younger Indonesians’ growing participation in capital markets, but stressed that investor growth needed to be accompanied by better financial understanding.

Citing the 2026 National Survey of Financial Literacy and Inclusion, he said the 26-to-35 age group recorded the highest financial literacy and inclusion indices, at 78.70 per cent and 96.27 per cent respectively. For the capital market sector overall, the corresponding indices were 17.78 per cent and 1.34 per cent.

OJK welcomed the exchange’s financial literacy event as an effort to improve financial knowledge and investor protection in Indonesia.
