Indonesia exchange to exclude 81 HSC stocks from IHSG

The affected stocks account for about 18% of the index's weight, but their exclusion will not reduce the exchange's total market capitalisation, officials said.

The Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) will remove stocks of 81 issuers classified as High Shareholding Concentration (HSC) from its benchmark IHSG calculation from 2 November 2026. Their index weights will be reassigned to the remaining constituents, according to the exchange.

BEI president director Jeffrey Hendrik said the initial implementation would not cause a sharp fall or jump in the benchmark. He said historical testing showed no index surge from the exclusion, while subsequent movements would depend on the share prices of the remaining constituents.

The change follows the earlier removal of HSC stocks from the IDX30, LQ45 and IDX80 indices. Jeffrey said BEI hoped the adjustment would make the IHSG more credible and representative, helping investors track Indonesia's stock market.

BEI development director Iding Pardi said the affected shares carried about 18% of the IHSG's weight and represented around 30% of the exchange's total market capitalisation.

Speaking to reporters on 27 October 2026, Iding said the exclusion affected only the index calculation. The exchange's overall market capitalisation would continue to include every listed stock, including those in the HSC category.
