iCapital plans Singapore hiring as AI writes 75 per cent of its code
The fintech platform is seeking more product and engineering staff while considering capabilities for annuities and insurance in Singapore or Zurich.

iCapital intends to recruit additional product and engineering staff in Singapore while increasing its use of artificial intelligence, chief executive Lawrence Calcano told The Business Times. He said AI now produces 75 per cent of the fintech platform’s code, with its use extending across generation, testing and quality assurance.
Calcano said the technology could help the company operate more efficiently and improve what it offers clients. iCapital has invested more than US$1 billion in technology since its inception, covering areas including investor education, access, administration, reporting and liquidity solutions.
The company’s 2026 Asia Advisor Survey indicated that investors increasingly want analytical tools to build more sophisticated private-market portfolios, rather than access alone. Risk analytics ranked as Asia’s leading technology priority, while compliance was identified as the region’s fastest-growing challenge.
Despite weaker confidence in the economic outlook, more than a quarter of advisers surveyed intended to raise their allocations to alternative investments over the next 12 months. Calcano also reported greater interest in real assets among Asian investors.
Brooks Entwistle, iCapital’s newly appointed head of international, described Singapore as an important operational hub with sales staff and expertise across functions. The company is also considering annuities and insurance products and would look to build supporting capabilities in Singapore or Zurich when needed.
