Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL) began operating a new manufacturing facility in Kendal, Central Java, on 6 October 2026. The factory forms part of an investment of nearly Rp500 billion in Kendal, with the company targeting both domestic supply and future exports across Southeast Asia.

Godrej Consumer Products Indonesia chief executive Rajesh Sethuraman said the company was adding production capacity before demand required it. Construction took more than a year, and the facility was designed to respond quickly to market changes, he said.

GCPL managing director and chief executive Aasif Malbari described Indonesia as a key market in the company’s global strategy since it entered the country in 2010. He said Kendal could serve as a base for exports to neighbouring countries in the coming years.

India’s ambassador to Indonesia, Sandeep Chakravorty, attended the opening and urged Godrej to consider a third factory outside Java. He said a location on another island could help bring products closer to consumers given Indonesia’s logistical challenges.
