Singapore Exchange (SGX) will expand its Singapore Depository Receipts (SDRs) range on Oct 16, adding five companies involved in the global artificial intelligence value chain. The launch will bring its offering to 43 counters covering Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia and the US.

The new receipts track TSMC, SK Hynix, Montage Technology, Zhongji Innolight and Z.AI. Each will have a minimum trading size below S$300. SDRs give investors a way to trade foreign-listed shares in smaller denominations through a single marketplace.

SGX said growing SDR activity had been accompanied by strong interest in technology stocks. Chinese technology companies generated over 90 per cent of daily SDR turnover in Q3 and drew over 65 per cent of net inflows from retail investors, according to the exchange. Alibaba, Tencent and SMIC led trading activity.

Exchange data showed net SDR purchases by retail investors reached S$100 million during the first nine months of 2026. Retail investors bought more than they sold in every SDR tracking a Hong Kong-listed company, with BYD, Tencent and Alibaba drawing the biggest inflows.
