Dien Bien approves projects with capital exceeding ₫7.5 trillion
Six investors also exchanged memoranda with the Vietnamese province covering nearly ₫12 trillion in registered capital.

Authorities in Vietnam’s Dien Bien province issued investment approvals to 20 investors at a conference on October 19, covering projects valued at more than ₫7.5 trillion. The event brought together representatives of Dien Bien, China’s Yunnan province and Luang Prabang province in Laos.
Dien Bien separately exchanged memoranda of understanding with six investors, representing registered capital of nearly ₫12 trillion. Sectors covered by the agreements included renewable energy, industrial park infrastructure, mineral exploration and processing, urban development, tourism and social housing.
Another five secondary investors were connected with two sites: Thanh An Industrial Park and Thanh Yen 2 Industrial Cluster. Their combined registered capital exceeds ₫2 trillion, and they plan to employ nearly 2,000 local workers. Proposed facilities would process agricultural produce and medicinal herbs, provide cold storage and preserve products after processing.
Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee Secretary Tran Tien Dung said the province sought closer supply-chain links with Yunnan and Luang Prabang, wider markets and greater value for agricultural products. He also pledged administrative simplification, more transparent planning information and a better business environment.
Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu urged participants to develop workable projects from their cooperation priorities. He called for infrastructure and border gates to be coordinated with logistics networks, production and markets.
The conference also established a tourism route across borders, connecting Yunnan with Dien Bien, Laos and Thailand. The initiative aims to link destinations and attract visitors from overseas.
