Bus Cap Bhd has named Ma Xiyin an independent non-executive director with effect from Oct 16, adding new-energy industry experience as the Malaysian bus manufacturer considers expanding its electric mobility activities.

The company said Ma brings more than 15 years of experience spanning strategic investment, commercial development and business leadership in China’s new-energy and electric mobility industries. She currently leads the Aiduke business group as managing director.

Aiduke’s interests include electric vehicles and buses, charging infrastructure, batteries, energy storage, renewable energy projects and components for the new-energy sector.

Bus Cap executive director Bernard Ng Chong Yan said Ma’s experience would support the board’s assessment of overseas partnerships, technology localisation and possible expansion. He said charging networks, energy storage, technology and lifecycle services would play a growing role beyond vehicle production.

Bus Cap signed a memorandum of understanding with BYD Malaysia Sdn Bhd on Aug 18 to examine cooperation on a new-energy commercial vehicle platform based in Malaysia. The proposal covers an electric bus manufacturing and assembly facility in Perak, as well as product localisation, marketing, sales, distribution and after-sales support.
