Malaysia’s FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI closed at 1,623.70 on October 15, 2026, a decline of 4.02 points, or 0.24 per cent. The fall ended a four-day run of gains as investors took profits in selected heavyweight shares amid weaker regional markets and losses on Wall Street.

The benchmark began trading at 1,625.10, with its session low at 1,617.14 and high at 1,625.61. Market-wide, 852 counters declined, 294 gained and 485 finished unchanged. Trading amounted to 3.06 billion units, compared with 3.25 billion units in the previous session, while the value traded was unchanged at RM3.03 billion.

Mohd Sedek Jantan, director of investment strategy and country economist at IPPFA Sdn Bhd, attributed the weakness in Asian equities to the overnight Wall Street sell-off. He said investors were reassessing the sustainability of capital expenditure linked to artificial intelligence and the outlook for semiconductor earnings.

Heavyweight shares delivered mixed results. Maybank’s ten-sen gain brought it to RM10.08, while Public Bank’s one-sen decline left it at RM4.74. CIMB ended at RM7.48, down two sen. Tenaga Nasional remained unchanged at RM12.98, and IHH Healthcare closed three sen lower at RM7.98.

Among the largest fallers, Malaysian Pacific Industries closed at RM40.40 after losing RM1.60. UMS Integration ended 66 sen lower at RM7.67, and UWC Bhd dropped 55 sen, finishing at RM7.18. On the gaining side, Nestle’s 38-sen advance took it to RM90.50, while Petronas Gas ended at RM17.60 after adding 32 sen.
