Indonesia’s PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BBTN) is considering buying back its shares, president director Nixon L.P. Napitupulu said in a statement on 20 October 2026. The proposal remains under review, with the bank saying it will disclose further details once a decision is made.

Nixon said the assessment covers BTN’s financial position, capital adequacy, funding requirements for business expansion and applicable regulatory rules. The bank is also examining possible uses for any shares it repurchases, depending on its needs.

He described a buyback as one of several strategic options being evaluated to support the bank’s long-term interests. Any decision would take account of its financial capacity and the interests of all shareholders, he said.

Nixon said share-price movements should be considered alongside business fundamentals, growth prospects and BTN’s ongoing transformation. He added that strengthening performance and pursuing sustainable business growth remained the bank’s priorities.

BTN continues to pursue housing-finance opportunities while supporting the 3 Million Homes programme and its transformation beyond mortgages, according to Nixon.

The bank previously set aside Rp275 billion for secondary-market share repurchases in 2020, when the Covid-19 pandemic put markets under pressure.
