BNI continues share buyback, considers extending programme
The Indonesian bank’s existing buyback period runs until 26 October 2026, with any extension subject to shareholder-approved limits.

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBNI) is continuing its share repurchase programme and assessing whether to extend the implementation period as market conditions evolve. The Indonesian bank disclosed the programme in July 2026, with purchases scheduled to run until 26 October 2026.
BNI said it was considering strategic options within the scope for repurchases approved at its general meeting of shareholders. In a written statement dated 20 October 2026, corporate secretary Okki Rushartomo said buyback decisions took account of market conditions, capital adequacy, prudence and corporate governance.
The bank reported assets of Rp1,434.1 trillion through August 2026, up 24.8 per cent year on year. Lending reached Rp977.2 trillion, an increase of 27.1 per cent, while third-party funds rose 29.4 per cent to Rp1,124.7 trillion.
Net interest income grew 14.3 per cent year on year to Rp28.9 trillion. Net profit was Rp14.33 trillion, up 6.9 per cent from the corresponding period a year earlier.
Okki said the buyback reflected management’s confidence in BNI’s business fundamentals and prospects. He added that the bank sought to balance shareholder interests with business development needs and sufficient capital.
