The Goesan International Organic Expo + Industry Fair 2022 will be held for 17 days from September 30 to October 16 at the ​​Organic Expo Plaza in Goesan-eup, Goesan-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do Province, under the theme, “Organics for a healthy world.”

The expo, set to be held again for the first time in 7 years since 2015, is co-hosted by Goesan-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do Provin and the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM), and it has been organized to raise global awareness that organic farming can help address the challenges faced by mankind amid global crises such as COVID-19 and climate change.

The international event targeting to attract 720,000 visitors will be held at six exhibition halls including a thematic exhibition hall shedding light on the history, and current status of organic farming and its role and importance as a solution to international issues such as the climate and food crises, an International Cooperation Hall, Industry Hall, and an outdoor exhibition area offering a variety of attractions and experiential events and activities.

The Industry Hall will showcase various organic industries such as organic food, bio and healthcare, organic materials, and organic pet care. There will also be business programs such as export consultation, domestic buyer consultation, and live commerce for participating companies to expand their domestic and overseas sales channels.

Furthermore, along with the opening of the expo, three international conferences will be held under the supervision of IFOAM and ten domestic academic conferences will be held back to back. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of IFOAM and the 10th anniversary of IFOAM ASIA, and the academic events held to commemorate these anniversaries will serve as a place of exchange for the development of the organic industry by bringing together people from the organic farming industry and related experts from various countries.

On the main stage where the official events will be held, 59 performances and events will be staged over the course of 17 days, including the City and County Day event and the Eco-Friendly Farmers’ Contest, while 6 events including the Solar Festival and the 26th Chungbuk Folk Art Festival will be held at the Sports Complex.

In the Culture Zone, there will be 25 kinds of experiential activities such as organic cooking classes, a farmers’ market where handicrafts, etc. will be sold, and busking performances by 65 teams. At the direct trading market, there will be 46 booths offering certified eco-friendly agricultural products and merchandise.

In consideration of the COVID-19 situation, a thorough disease control and prevention system will be in place placing the safety of visitors as the top priority. The use of plastics will be minimized to contribute to the efforts toward “Net Zero” emissions.

Goesan-gun, known for its splendid natural environment, is famous for its Sanmagi Yet-gil Trail (Old Road) tourist attraction. Those who visit the designated tourist sites such as Jeungpyeong Black Stone Edu Farm Resort and Chungju Hwalok Cave would be able to receive discounts on the admission tickets.
