San Diego, California Feb 26, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - Deep Down is about two people who feel so passionate for each other but emotionally can no longer be together, knowing they are better off without one another". The song is sweet with an RnB style rhythmic pulse that emphasizes the lyrical message while still expressing and maintaining the musical character and style of mayumi. The release was produced by her older brother, Ace, and her dad, who goes by the pseudonym ADAMRNB.

mayumi wrote 'Deep Down' at the age of 11 while practicing her guitar and through chord progressions, "the melody just came, along with the lyrics". mayumi's musical journey began at a very young age. As the youngest of 4 siblings, she grew up in a very musical family in San Francisco, Bay Area. Her father is a singer; her eldest brother is a jazz saxophonist, her sister also sings, and her brother plays the piano.
mayumi learned to play the guitar at the age of 5, began private lessons at the age of 7, and continues instruction with an emphasis on jazz. She will be attending the Stanford Jazz Workshop this Summer and will continue to play in her school band when she returns. Her songwriting began before she even learned how to write (around the age of 5) and currently, mayumi has over 40 original songs written. Her influences include Joe Pass, Raphael Saadiq, H.E.R., and a handful of Pop artists. She has performed at many community events and has made the decision to pursue music to sing and share her untold stories with the world.
