Indonesian bank deposits above Rp5 billion rise 11.91% in September
Deposits paying more than LPS’s guarantee rate accounted for 36.06% of bank savings, up from 34% a month earlier.

Bank deposits exceeding Rp5 billion recorded Indonesia’s fastest growth among deposit tiers in September 2026, increasing 11.91% from a year earlier, according to the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS). Total banking deposits reached Rp10,513 trillion at the end of the third quarter, up 8.65% year on year.
Speaking at a KSSK press conference on 3 November 2026, LPS board of commissioners chairman Anggito Abimanyu said larger deposits continued to account for the biggest share of funds. Deposits below Rp100 million, most of which belonged to individuals, grew 7.15% annually.
Growth was slower in two other tiers: deposits of Rp100 million–Rp200 million increased 5.8%, while those of Rp200 million–Rp500 million rose 4.21% from a year earlier.
LPS also reported an increase in deposits earning interest above its guarantee rate. These amounted to Rp3,791.34 trillion in September, representing 36.06% of total deposits, compared with 34% in the previous month. Anggito attributed the increase to private companies and state-owned enterprises receiving rates above that threshold.
Anggito said LPS was monitoring competition for deposits and its effects on individual banks. He added that LPS and other KSSK members were strengthening coordination to prevent further increases in both the share of deposits earning above the guarantee rate and the interest rates paid on them.
