Indonesia moves to improve industrial data ahead of third-quarter GDP figures
Officials are aligning industrial statistics to identify growth opportunities and guide policy before the economic growth announcement in early November.

Indonesia’s government is stepping up coordination on industrial statistics ahead of the announcement of third-quarter 2026 economic growth in early November. Deputy Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Dradjad Hari Wibowo said better data would help identify growth drivers and guide more targeted policies.
The work was discussed at an October 26 meeting in Jakarta between Dradjad, Statistics Indonesia (BPS) head Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti and Industry Minister Muhammad Sarmuji.
Dradjad said aligning the figures would support a unified national dataset for tracking economic developments, identifying potential sources of growth and deciding where policy intervention was needed. Officials discussed opportunities in food and beverages and agro-industry, including activities in industrial estates and bonded zones.
The discussions also covered how regions could encourage investment and develop economic activities suited to local conditions. According to Dradjad, linking statistics to policy would help the government diagnose economic problems more accurately and choose appropriate responses.
The government sees increased activity in industry and its supporting sectors as an opportunity for further expansion. Dradjad said stronger demand ahead of Christmas and New Year could offer scope to raise the use of existing production capacity.
He cited agricultural intensification, irrigation improvements and fertiliser provision as measures that had helped agricultural growth, saying a similar approach could be applied to industry through greater capacity utilisation.
