Malaysia’s Genting Bhd advanced to ninth in the 2026 ASEAN 500 ranking compiled by Brand Finance, joining Petronas and Maybank in the top 10. The consultancy put Genting’s brand valuation at US$6 billion, a 23 per cent increase that lifted it two positions.

Petronas retained the region’s second-highest valuation at US$13.8 billion despite a four per cent decline. Brand Finance linked the decrease to weaker energy prices, but said the company continued to improve its reputation, reliability and engagement with customers in Malaysia.

The consultancy attributed Genting’s advance to stronger operations, greater business volumes in leisure and hospitality, and rising tourism demand in Singapore and Malaysia. A score of 92.1 out of 100 on the Brand Strength Index also ranked Genting among ASEAN’s strongest brands.

Maybank’s valuation reached US$5.4 billion following a four per cent gain. The bank is finishing its M25+ strategy and getting ready for ROAR30, its next strategic phase.

Separately, Brand Finance ranked Petronas first in ASEAN for Sustainability Perceptions Value, at US$1.3 billion. That measure puts a financial value on perceptions of sustainability efforts. The consultancy cited the group’s energy transition strategy, commitment to net-zero carbon emissions, nature-related initiatives and support for a just transition.

Gains were also recorded by Malaysian brands including CelcomDigi, AirAsia Group, Malaysia Airlines, Tenaga Nasional, KPJ Healthcare, Pantai and Takaful Malaysia. The ranking’s 500 ASEAN brands together were valued at US$315.6 billion in 2026, up eight per cent.
